So, here it begins! My very own little bakery. If you’re reading this, I want to thank you for being that close of a friend that you actually care to see what little creations I make.

I think it’s time for a brief bio-introduction-type-dealy!
Name: Allyson. Marie. Dwyer Age 21. Birthday: July 2nd, 1989. Best birthday date ever? I say yes.
Here’s me!:
I’m from Leonardo, NJ, a small town near where the beginning of the Jersey shore starts – but nowhere near that Jersey Shore. However I’d say I currently live literally everywhere. I have an apartment in Bloomfield but go to school in New York City (at The New School~~~ so fancy), and spend a lot of time in Old Bridge, NJ, where Baboo #2 lives. I’m all over dat.
I’ll post a lot about the many bakeries I visit in the areas I spend the most time. Anything sweet, or very delicious, that I think is worth making a memory of!
But I don’t like to stay in one place – I’ll always post from my various adventures of the great things I find, so you may go out and find them, too.
I go to school for writing – I like to write plays! I’ve been writing plays since the end of middle school and have written & directed about four of my works, with one winning Best Production at the Bucks County Playhouse one year during a one-act competition. : ) I’m working on a full length at the moment, so I may mention it from time to time!
Anyway, I’d say I have enjoyed baking since longlong ago – perhaps elementary school? I got way in to it in Middle School & would bake all sorts of weird treats which I continue to do up to this day. Basically I bake for all occasions but a lot of it is to reduce stress & to share my feelings with others.
With that in mind, how bout a little Q&A?!
Q: Allyson, what would you say is your favorite thing to bake??
A: Lately I’ve been really in to making vegan cookies from Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar. My favorite recipe in the book is the Carrot Raisin Spice Chewies. I can, and do, eat a million~~~ of these!
Otherwise, I am partial to all kinds of baking. Anything that lets me be creative and have fun!
Q: Vegan cookies?! Is this a completely vegan blog?
A: Sadly, no. I hate to disappoint any vegan readers than come across this blog, but I am not vegan. I am an insanely devout vegetarian, however. I hope to one day be vegan. I try very hard to be vegan when I can, but I have personal reasons for not being completely committed. However, you will be happy to know I will post several vegan & vegetarian dishes I enjoy making for myself!
Edit 01/12/11: For a long time now I have stopped eating anything with gelatin in it. I had posted a marshmallow recipe a while back but since then have learned more about the product and have decided to avoid it entirely. This will probably be the last time you see something which includes gelatin on this blog.
Q: What’s your favorite bakery?
A: I have two bakeries that I really, really love. The first is The Flaky Tart in Atlantic Highlands, NJ. CHECK IT OUT! This bakery rocks so hard, people. Best muffins, best scones, best cinnamon buns. Freshest baked goods ever and the kind I secretly use to judge all other bakeries I try! My second favorite is the Italian bakery Veniero’s, in the East Village. It’s a very old bakery, from 1894, that has a huge cafe inside for sitting down, with a beautiful, old interior. I have fond memories of this place, and I consider them to have some of the best cakes!
Q: What kind of flavors do you enjoy?
A: Lots! I am a fruit girl – I love banana, strawberry, orange, raspberry, blueberry, apple. Bananas, and peanut butter are a marriage to me! Anything which nuts, especially walnuts. Cinnamon is the best smell on the planet. I also have a not-so-secret love for baked goods involving cereal – ESPECIALLY fruity pebbles !
Q: You sure do love Wilco. What’s up with that?
A: I have no idea. People ask me this all the time. I think I just heard a song by them one day – “The Lonely 1” and fell INSTANTLY in love! You’ll soon realize all the titles are, in deed, Wilco songs. In fact, I got a tumblr that I sort of update from time to time. Whoops!
Q: Do you have any other blogs we need to know about?
My boyfriend and I have a blog dedicated to dumb & silly things see while thrifting, Thrift Fails. Thrifty is our second middle names – we go to yard sales on the weekends, flea markets, any Good Will that we can ravish. If you have any funny photos from your escapades, feel free to send them to us!
I also have a silly little personal tumblr, if you really want to get the nitty-gritty. I know you do!
Q: What on *EARTH* is a Baboo??
A: Personally, it’s a nonsense word I use with this kid:
But it’s also a word that revolves around love in general. Nonsensical love. Which is what this blog may very well be. : )
